Which ACW scale?

Well here I go again, which American Civil War scale to mini game in? I was a reenactor for 9 years and 6 were ACW. I have a great great grandfather in the 22nd Virgina (Monroe Sharpshooters) and a picture of him. I have more Civil war books than the library and do to a great gentlemen passing (Norm Pack) I was given the honor from his wife of getting all his Civil war history books! So obviously I like the era!

I now have the bug again (along with doing my WSS stuff) and am tempted to do 28's. They have style easy to see details, plastics (thanks Perry's!), and are readily available, and the price is very reasonable now (Old Glory Army club member, and PLASTICS!), but this does lend to larger tables and smaller units. I also find 28's easy to paint and think figure wise they look the best.

Then there is 15-18mm. This was my original figure scale I started with way back when I was 12 yrs old. I have alot of this stuff but I paint better now and the figure quality has improved since I bought alot of my stuff. You can make fine looking units 24-60 figure units look grand IMHO but for some reason I find 15's difficult to paint now I don't know why they almost seem as much work as the 28's and yet don't look as good individually. The price is OK , they really are not that much cheaper than some 28's. This is a scale though were alot of options for stuff is available.

10mm is also tempting my eye. If I want big battles tons of figures (50-100 man units!) then this might be for me. There are some nice figures now but the amount available is still small.
These figures are easy to paint and look good once put together, but just don't seem popular.
Artillery at this scale can be made to look like batteries. But if your looking for the "individual" figure look this is not the place. The price is good but I would be tempted to put alot of figures in units so the price starts to break even again, but man do large unit of figures look good....

6mm. Well I have a lot of Baccus WSS stuff and it is very nice, the ACW stuff looks very nice if not even better except one thing. US soldiers did not carry their musket the way Baccus models theirs, they did not use the left shoulder to carry and march. Not a big deal to alot of people but to me it just bothers me. Other than that I think its a great line but the problem is 6mm is small so again I am tempted to use even more figure strips and make actual regiments. This can be even more expensive. They are very easy to paint and do look great when painted up.

Well if you made it this far among my ramblings Thanks!
Not sure what to do yet and when picks are posted maybe that will help me decide.

Finally Picture of Imperialist WSS Minis

Some One asked about my flags I use "Photo Fabric" to print them out on. They give a nice textured look BUT WORDS of WARNING, Don't use a Marker to do the edges they will bleed badly as you see in the images above, oh well live and learn....

Well after a rather ingloriously start I finally have some figure to post. I hope to be able to do a review and comparison someday between the different figure manufactures. I really like Imperialist minis. Hope you enjoy!

The Beginning

Well this is the start of my blog I hope you enjoy. I always enjoy looking at pictures of miniatures especially painted ones! I hope that I can keep this updated and interesting. Right now I am starting to focus on 28mm War of Spanish Succession and hope to have some pictures of completed units soon.
